Current Projects : Alhambra Wash Naturalization Study, City of Rosemead

As Alhambra Wash arrives to join the Rio Hondo in its final 1/2 mile, it courses through the Rio Hondo flood plain in the Whittier Narrows Golf Course. With little risk of damage from flooding, this section offers great potential to significantly restore an original stream bed and provide a model for naturalizing some Southern California waterways. Amigos is studying the feasibility of removing parts of the Alhambra Wash Flood Control channel, restoring pieces of aquatic and terrestrial habitat, and enhancing public access through trail development.
